ORTHOPEDIC / MEDICAL MASSAGE TREATMENT

What is orthopedic massage treatment?

Orthopedic Massage Treatment (OM) describes a comprehensive system, rather than a single technique, that involves therapeutic assessment, manipulation and movement of soft tissues to resolve pain and dysfunction. OM's focus is restoring function and structural balance throughout the body for both prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions. OM takes a multidisciplinary approach that looks to resolve the origin of the pain and dysfunction either from trauma-induced injuries or postural imbalances that exacerbate the pain through daily activities. Common orthopedic conditions can stem from sports injuries, postural imbalances due to poor work ergonomics, chronic pain and scar tissue from surgery or traumatic injury.

Orthopedic Massage Treatment offers relief from common musculoskeletal problems such us:

sciatica • scoliosis • coccyx and sacral dysfunction • forward head postures • rib fixations  â€¢ Dowager's Humps  â€¢ back spasms/pain  â€¢ SI joint and iliac dysfunction • cervical pain • rotator cuff injuries • frozen shoulder • thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) • carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow • plantar fascitis and foot pain • anterior compartment syndrome • shin splints • iliotibial band (ITB) issues • chondromalacia patella and knee pain • whiplash injuries • compressed disks • bursitis • tendonitis/tendinosis • scar tissue issues...

  •   Patellar chondromalacia (Runners Knee)

Is this the massage for me?

Almost everyone can benefit from intelligent and intuitive massage. Do you ever find yourself rolling and kneading away at some annoying spot that just won't go away? Do you have a "trick" knee, back, or neck that "goes out once and a while"? Most of us unnecessarily live with discomfort or pain related to repetitive motions and work habits such as forward head computer posture, trauma from physically demanding jobs, or those calling for long periods of immobility. OM is designed to resolve old chronic injuries diagnosed or otherwise.

What is involved in a typical massage session?

Each session uses techniques that will allow you to obtain immediate and long-lasting results in even the most challenging and complicated conditions. Sessions begin with functional assessment and may include myofascial release, neuromuscular, Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, Neurokinetic Therapy, scar tissue mobilization techniques, among others as well as stretching and specific client home care strengthening protocols. Clients will be in shorts and/or a sports bra/tube top, or are draped with only the area of the body that is being treated exposed during massages.

How many sessions do I need?

Each session is 60 minutes long. First session will be 90 min long with orthopedic assessment. How many sessions necessary can only be estimated after the first session. Everyone is different and is treated so. The massage Oleg practices is very comprehensive. Your history, functional movement, muscle-firing order, strength, posture, gait as well as your symptoms are all considered to provide you with exactly what your body needs. Unless your injury is due to a recent acute trauma, it has taken many years to develop. Most clients with a history of chronic pain don't need to see Oleg more than four times to gain lasting relief. One session is usually not enough to release deeply rooted patterns whether on the muscular, bone, neurological, fascial or even emotional level (pain occurs in the brain only and therefore contains a psychological component whether it manifests or not). That being said, Oleg’s therapy is designed to give you results in the quickest, most thorough way possible with the least amount of discomfort.
